Vestry Update- January 2016
The regular January vestry meeting scheduled at 7:30 PM on January 20 was cancelled after 7 PM due to the sudden unexpected snow and icing conditions that struck before the anticipated big storm. Some members who were already in their cars on their way to the meeting got caught in the bad road conditions.
The meeting was re-scheduled for the following Wednesday, January 27, when most Arlingtonians had finally escaped their houses but due to previous commitments only eight members were able to attend in person, or by conference call connection. Seven are required for a quorum.
Those present spent some time personally honoring the three members completing their terms – Senior Warden Crystal Hardin, Treasurer George DeFilippi, and Dennis Fish.
After hearing a report from the Renovations Tri-Chairs, the Vestry voted to approve the approximately
$1.5 Million baseline budget without including three options which would bring the project budget over the amount of funds already pledged to the renovation project. The Vestry further voted not to undertake long term debt to fund those three options (Approximately $160,000 for under the floor ductwork for air conditioning, new lighting focused on the altar after it is moved forward, and an in-floor labyrinth.) Some or all of the items will be included in the project only if funding for them materializes within the next month in response to information provided to the congregation at the annual meeting on January 31 and subsequent announcements or written updates.
