Contemplative Nights - Labyrinth and Taizé Prayer

All are invited to St. George's Contemplative Nights on the second Wednesday of each month.

The Labyrinth

Walk the labyrinth in Room 114 (please note the room change as the Parish Hall is closed during our renovation and will re-open in the fall). any time from 6:30 to 8:00 PM during St. George's Contemplative Nights.

The labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice found in various forms in many religious traditions around the world. For centuries, many people could not afford to travel to holy sites and lands. Labyrinths and prayer substituted for pilgrimage travel. The labyrinth has only one path. There are no dead ends. The path becomes a mirror for where we are in our lives. Today, labyrinths are found at churches, parks, and even hospitals.

St. George's labyrinth is a replica of the famous labyrinth laid in the floor of the Chartres Cathedral in France.

Come to experience the labyrinth or simply to explore it, wherever you are in your spiritual journey.

Taizé prayer service

Gather for Taizé prayer service in the nave from 7:00-7:45 PM during St. George's Contemplative Nights.

Each year, thousands of young adults from around the world, seeking meaning in their lives, travel to the ecumenical monastic community of Taizé in eastern France. Founded in the early years of World War II, Taizé has become a focal point of ecumenical spirituality.

Taizé prayer, a meditative prayer in common, is offered throughout the world. Songs with few words and the beauty of simplicity are sung, enhancing the meditative quality of prayer. Alternating with the songs are periods of silence.
